new music from ⟢ Steve Lacy, Madonna, Malcolm Todd, horsegiirL, Joji, Tinashe, Ellie Goulding, Kelela..
Steve Lacy’s new single “the feeling” is funky, psychedelic, and a little understated instrumentally, but there’s so much emotion packed into it. i’ve been replaying ‘Gemini Rights’ a lot lately, and this feels like the perfect next step. if this is any indication of what we’re getting in July, we’re in for a really good summer. and if you want more Lacy, he also shows up on Malcolm Todd’s new album ‘Do That Again’, featured on the closing title track.
Madonna’s new single “Love Sensation” was another highlight for me. out of the three songs she’s released so far, this is definitely my favorite. it leans fully into that french house / dancefloor energy i was hoping to get more of, what i love the most is how seamlessly these singles transition into each other. that’s one of the reasons ‘Confessions on a Dance Floor’ hits so hard.
also spent some time with new releases from Evanescence, Lizzo (Little Black Cat is my favorite after first listen ), horsegiirL, Joji, Kelela, and The Avalanches feat. Jamie xx. a really strong week with something for everyone.
