▷ lauryn hill appreciation

Lauryn Hill is one of those artists i grew up hearing everywhere. way before i understood songwriting, production, or what made an artist truly special, i knew her voice was different.

‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ remains one of the greatest albums ever made, and it’s still just as powerful, honest, and relevant as it was almost 30 years ago. but beyond the music, i’ve always admired how thoughtful and intentional she is. one of my favorite moments from her MTV Unplugged performance is when she talks about letting go of impossible standards and learning to embrace who you are. it’s a message that’s stayed with me for years.

these are some of my essential Lauryn Hill songs:

“Killing ame Softly”

“Ex-Factor”

“Everything is Everything”

“If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)”

“Tell Him”

“Doo Woo (That Thing)”

“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”

“Ready or Not”

“Fu-Gee-La”

“I Gotta Find Peace of Mind”
